Whether you're about to get a new partial denture or you've recently got one, you may have a few questions about what to expect.
Wearing a partial is a new experience and can take time to get used to.
When you first put your partial denture in it may feel too big for your mouth. This is a common sensation that many people experience and it's nothing to worry about; it's just your mouth getting used to the partial.
Another thing people worry about is the fact that their partial denture could become loose or cause damage to their natural teeth. Poligrip® for Partials Seal & Protect is specially formulated to stabilise your partial to provide a snug fit.
Making a few small changes to your daily routine can have a big effect on your natural teeth and your partial.

When people talk about partial dentures they could mean a number of things, as there is a wide variety now available.
Here's a quick overview of the different types to give you a better picture of what they involve.
Acrylic Removable Partial Denture
Some partial dentures are made of acrylic, with wrought wire clasps that attach to the remaining natural teeth. They are sometimes used as a lower cost alternative to metal framework dentures or they may be used as transitional dentures, when additional prosthetic treatment is likely in the future.
Metal frame partial dentures
When a few teeth are missing they can be replaced with an upper or lower removable partial denture (RPDs). RPDs usually consist of plastic replacement teeth attached to gum-coloured acrylic bases.

A. Some regular toothpastes contain abrasive ingredients, to assist in keeping natural teeth clean. The acrylic that is used in partial dentures is softer than natural teeth so regular toothpaste can scratch the surface. These tiny scratches can create conditions for microorganisms to grow. Poligrip® for Partials Clean & Protect is non-abrasive on denture materials and is more effective at killing germs than regular toothpaste.
